Love...Belinda

For some it's Audrey Hepburn, perhaps Jackie O or maybe Grace Kelly. For me however, the ultimate goddess and icon of style has always been Belinda Carlisle. I am still on a high after seeing her concert on Friday and thought I would take this opportunity to celebrate her beauty and talent with you all.

Still wowing the world with her classic beauty and amazing talent after all these years. She is the woman I always wanted (and still want) to be.

Tweet towel

Weekends are always so busy aren't they? However, I did find some inspiration whilst out yesterday and ended up creating this embellished tea towel.

Whilst in Spotlight (looking for something completely different...that place is lethal!), I spotted a bargain bin full of tea towels priced at $1 each. So I bought an assortment and started thinking of what I could dress them up with out of some scrap fabric pieces.

I cut out a design of a sweet little birdy in some pretty material I had saved.

I then gave her a bit of razzle dazzle and personality.

After ironing the bird and the tea towel flat, I then pinned her into position and got to sewing. I did hand sew her as I was worried about the edges of the material fraying and hemming her would be too fiddly for such a project. However, after looking at some of my own towels and others like it on Etsy, I will definitely machine sew the next ones. The slight fraying, that inevitably occurs, adds to the character of the design.

And voila! One cute little addition to any cottage kitchen!

P.S. Will post the other towels soon. I have some eiffel towers and owls under construction...

Creative hiatus

Having six weeks off over Christmas and New Year, I was determined to get lots of craft projects ticked off my list. But alas, my list is still long. It wasn't all bad though - the main reason for my blog land hiatus was jetsetting! After a quiet New Year, we set off south to Tasmania to see family. We did venture to one little town though that captured my heart, Evandale. Very quaint and yes, very Jack and Georgie.

All the shops are old school houses, banks and historic homesteads.

Every single house is picture perfect!

It is the home to an annual penny farthing race...does it get any better?

Mr and I began searching for a house in Evandale as soon as we came home. The novelty wore off a little once we got back into reality...but the spark is still alive...perhaps one day...
